NYC is using ranked choice voting

Because the primary has been the decider for the election of the mayor in New York City, they have shifted to rank choice voting. In Ann Arbor no one has a chance of winning as a Republican. So people who used to be Republicans started calling themselves Democrats and everything gets decided in the Democratic primary. That primary has been scheduled in August, which means that for fewer people end up voting.

Rank the Vote NYC was founded in 2019 to bring Ranked Choice Voting to New York City. After our historic win, we have since shifted to educating voters, candidates & campaigns and community groups on the upcoming changes to our local elections in 2021.
